I awakeed this morning and went through the box of a doctor for my grandmother. She had been away for five days and I realized something was wrong. Although she was healthy when I visited her, she has since lost the ability to remember the time of day. When I ask her at what time of day she thinks she was at her doctor she says “I don’t remember.”
Five days is a long period for anyone to miss work. You’ll lose valuable time working with your doctor if you don’t get in on the first day due to an emergency. The first thing I did when I became nurse practitioner was to switch from being an attending physician to working at a specialty level. While he had to attend more classes and receive special training, it was more aligned with my job and gave me more flexibility. He was also a doctor, however, he did not want to become a surgeon.
She was told by her doctor to not return to work. Within hours of her accident, she was rushed to surgery. She died within 24 hours. Most of the medical school faculty at this medical school are doctors in their respective fields.
Not every doctor can move seamlessly from attending medical school to becoming a surgeon or a general practitioner. Not all doctors have the ability to recognize and treat stroke symptoms immediately after they occur. This is why I believe that it is important for doctors to specialize in a particular area of medicine that is related to the area of medicine they wish to practice. For example when a doctor wants to become a cardiologist he must be interested in cardiovascular issues.
Some have suggested that doctors can choose to study the less exciting aspects in medicine. A doctorate degree that is focused on pediatricians, or a field that is less exciting like radiology or surgical tech would be a benefit to the doctor. While I am of the opinion that doctors should be able to focus their studies on one particular field of medicine, it isn’t a requirement that they pursue other areas. A doctor may choose to specialize in a different field of medicine.
Certain doctoral programs require that doctors complete either a residency or an internship prior to completing the doctoral program. A residency is typically five years long and takes around two years to complete. During the time of the internship, a doctor will gain more experience in clinical practice to prepare for the doctorate dissertation, which is required upon the completion of the doctoral program.
A doctorate in pharmacy is one of the most sought-after doctoral degrees. The doctorate degree does not allow the student to be competent to prescribe pharmaceuticals however it allows the doctor to conduct research and assist pharmacists with filling out the appropriate prescription forms. Doctors with a pharmacy degree are usually involved in research and teaching. While a pharmacy degree does not make an individual a patent scientist, it can help if they wish to.
There are many options to consider when selecting a specific area of medicine. Many doctors opt to be in practice for a period of years and finally decide to become a doctor. Others decide that they are ready for a greater level of academic commitment , and decide to pursue a doctorate. Whatever the reason doctors are usually happy with their decision to advance their education and further their career. There are many rewarding fields in medical practice, and doctors are able to find their specialty. Read more about Doctor here.
